Duncan Jones - NAWDO

Duncan is a Chartered Resources & Waste Manager and member of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM). He has 25 years’ experience covering a range of disciplines from client side roles through to senior leadership positions in direct service organisations working successfully across two tier structures.

Duncan is a former Chairman of the CIWM’s Special Interest Group on Waste Prevention and previously sat on the Institution’s Scientific and Technical Committee. Duncan is also a member of the National Association of Waste Disposal Officers (NAWDO) including being a member of the Association’s Policy & Advisory Board.

He is the NAWDO lead for waste crime matters as well as being the NAWDO advisor to RECOUP a national charity developing plastics recycling in the UK, promoting best practices and providing educational and training tools.
In addition to being the Partnership Development Manager for the Hertfordshire Waste Partnership Duncan is Chairman of the award-winning Hertfordshire Fly Tipping Group; a multi-agency task force, which in addition to Hertfordshire’s 11 local authorities, includes the Office of Police & Crime Commissioner, the Hertfordshire Constabulary, Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue, the Environment Agency, and the National Farmers Union.

Away from work Duncan was previously a member of the Rotary Club, a former On-Call Firefighter with Essex Fire & Rescue, deep mixed gas diver and pilot.  Currently in his downtime Duncan works as a Search Technician with Suffolk Lowland Search & Rescue which is a voluntary organisation on call 24 hours 365 days a year ready to assist the emergency services across Suffolk in finding missing children and vulnerable adults.
